Dr. Marc H Tanenbaum

Marc Tanenbaum has been practicing medicine in Longmont for over 35 years. He specializes in Family Practice medicine with an emphasis in preventative medicine including, dyslipidemias, heart disease, hypertension and diabetes. He employs the latest technology including genetic testing for cancers( using deCodeMe), heart-scans, and carotid artery ultrasounds (CIMT’s) AAA’s (looking for abdominal aneurysms) and ABI’s (looking for peripheral vascular disease) . In addition, Marc Tanenbaum works with the top laboratories in the Untied States including Health Diagnostic Labs. or HDL, Lipo Science, PreDx. ( looking for diabetes 5 years into the future), CORUS (based on RNA testing which predicts obstructive coronary artery disease) and Singulex (looking at subtle cardiac ischemia ( 6 months into the future). The tests we employ are highly effective in evaluating the medical needs of his patients and are currently utilized by only 2-3% of primary care doctors.

Medical Background & Experience

I studied Molecular Genetics at Georgetown University. My medical degree is from the University of Louisville. I served two years in the Marine Corp during Vietnam. I enjoy hiking, landscaping and unique once in a life time challenges like paragliding and jumping out of airplanes. I have four children whose lives have taken them to distant lands throughout the world.

What makes me unique is my dedication to cardiac prevention utilizing the best known lipidologists in the world. My focus is not reactive medicine but proactive medicine. My affiliations with the best preventative clinics in the US and my abilities to communicate directly with them gives me the “edge” on treatment strategies and diagnostic testing. Most cardiologists and family physicians do not utilize the testing available in our clinic.

The information necessary to run a successful preventative clinic is complex and requires almost weekly updates and continuing education. I have gone through difficult lipid problems and other medical issues myself which gives me the personal knowledge on how to overcome bad genetics and other complicated medical issues. This allows a more “personal” touch to my practice. I am board certified in family practice and plan to become certified in the specialty of lipidology or the field of lipids.
