To our Patients
The foundation of healthcare delivery in America is the Doctor-Patient relationship. It is a caring trust, mutual respect, emotional support and bonding between my patients and me. It is knowing that when you seek guidance for your healthcare needs, I will be there. On my Oath as a physician, I will always advise you based on what is best for you, my patient.
Managed medical care will not compromise these principles. Colorado Law now requires all contracts between health plans and physicians to specifically carry provisions stating I cannot be prohibited from protesting or expressing disagreement with a medical decision or medical policy of a health plan.
Additionally, you and I will not have to be concerned that the health plan could exclude my participation because:I express disagreement with the plan's decision to deny or limit benefits to you.
I assist you in having the plan reconsider a decision with which you and I disagree.
I discuss with you any aspect of your medical condition, any proposed treatments or treatment alternatives, whether covered by the plan or not.
I discuss with you any policy provisions of the plan.
I make a personal recommendation, based on my knowledge of your health, of which health plan best meets your personal needs.Good health plans in Colorado agree that you and I should always be able to speak openly.
Always remember, no matter what may happen around us in the ever-changing world of health care, we will always have that very special bond, the Doctor-Patient Relationship. And that starts with open communication between us!
